Federal and DC Government and Host of Private Partners Team Up for America Recycles Day

(11/14/2002) In celebration of America Recycles Day, the federal government, the District of Columbia Government, and many non-government and corporate partners will encourage electronics recycling this Friday and Saturday. Used, broken, or outdated electronics will be accepted at the Washington Monument during a recycling drive. At 11 a.m. on Friday, a ceremony celebrating America Recycles Day will be held in the parking lot adjacent to the Washington monument.

Where: Washington Monument in Adjacent Parking Lot on Constitution Avenue between 15th and 17th Streets
Recycling Event
Who: All federal and DC government employees, and all DC area residents are encouraged to participate.
What: Federal agencies, the D.C. government and corporate partners are sponsoring an electronics recycling event. Bring your used electronic items. UNICOR, Federal Prison Industries, a government corporation, will recycle them and provide tax donation forms. When: November 15th and 16th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: The Washington Monument (Constitution Avenue entrance) and at various agency drop-offs for employees.
The following items will be accepted: Computer Equipment, Cell Phones, TVs (19" or less), VCRs, Circuit Boards Fax Machines, Printers, Pagers, Mainframes, Camcorders, Modems, Monitors, Test Equipment, Memory Hard Drives, Floppy Drives, Scrap Copper, CD ROM Drives, Motherboards, Tape Drives, Copy Machines, Power Supplies, Connectors/Cords/Wire Network/Video/Sound Cards, Scrap Computer Plastic & Metal Audio Visual Equipment
The following items will not be accepted: Console/cabinet televisions and televisions larger than 19". White goods (air conditioners, refrigerators, washers, dryers, vacuum cleaners, microwaves & toasters).
America Recycles Day 2002 is the result of a partnership among local communities, businesses, industry, and government that promotes recycling, buying, and using products made with recycled materials.
