MEDIA ADVISORY: EPA ADMINISTRATOR IN TWIN CITIES JULY 24 TO PRESENT WATER SECURITY GRANTS
CHICAGO (July 23, 2002) – U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Christie Whitman will visit the Twin Cities on July 24 to present grants to Minnesota water systems for security planning. The grants to improve the safety and security of the nation’s water supply are being provided under a Congressional appropriation following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Whitman will also visit Upper Landing in St. Paul.

From downtown St. Paul, cross Wabasha Street bridge, turn right off Wabasha to west end of Harriet Island Park. Event will be held at riverside of the pavilion.
Attendees: EPA Administrator Christie Whitman, Governor Jesse Ventura, St. Paul Mayor Randy Kelly, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, Jan Malcolm, Commissioner, Minnesota Dept. of Health, Karen Studders, Commissioner, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and Thomas Skinner, EPA Regional Administrator.
