EPA Booth Planned for Commodity Classic Event

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Kansas City, Kan., Feb. 26, 2008) - EPA Region 7 Administrator John B. Askew will attend the annual Commodity Classic event, agriculture's premier trade show and convention, Feb. 28 to March 1.

Askew will be available for interviews in EPA's Booth 747. He is prepared to discuss biofuels, a new EPA user-friendly manual to help ethanol facilities comply with environmental regulations, EPA's role in the Federal Crop Insurance biotech yield endorsement (BYE) program, genetically engineered corn seed lines, and the first-ever Farm, Ranch and Rural Communities Federal Advisory Council.

WHAT:
The American Soybean Association, National Corn Growers Association, and National Association of Wheat Growers will assemble for the Commodity Classic.

WHEN:
Feb. 28 to March 1, 2008

WHO:
Before appointment as the EPA Region 7 Administrator, John Askew was president of the Iowa Soybean Association, the largest state commodity group in Region 7. His family’s Century Farm is near Thurman, Iowa, where they farm 1,400 acres of corn, soybeans, and alfalfa.
