CHICAGO (Oct. 6, 2005) — U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 has issued an administrative consent order to Fort James Operating Co. that requires the company to modify its state operating permit to require better monitoring of a boiler at the company's paper mill at 1919 S. Broadway St., Green Bay, Wis.

The order resolves EPA allegations of violations at the company's Boiler #8. In December 2003, EPA made a preliminary finding that Fort James had Clean Air Act violations related to the boiler.

"EPA's mission is to protect public health and the environment," said Regional Administrator Thomas V. Skinner. "We will take whatever steps are needed to ensure compliance with the Clean Air Act."
