FANNETTSBURG, Pa. -- The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded a
$475,100 grant increase to construct sewage collection lines, grinder pumps and an aerated lagoon for the Village of Fannettsburg, Metal Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
“We are pleased to help communities eliminate potential water pollution and maintain clean waterways that residents can use for recreation,” said Bradley Campbell, EPA mid-Atlantic regional administrator.
The treatment system, which will serve about 1,700 residents, will eliminate failing on-lot septic systems and improve water quality in the township. Effluent from the treatment system will be discharged into the West Branch of the Conococheaque Creek which flows into Mountain Lake. Design of the Metal Township treatment system is nearing completion.
The project was initially funded with a $400,000 grant from EPA in 1997. Construction is expected to begin in March 2001.
