U.S. EPA Selects Pfizer Cruce Davila for Membership in National Environmental Performance Track

(#05105) SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO -- The Pfizer Pharmaceutical Cruce Davila facility in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico, is among the 39 facilities that have been selected as new members of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) National Environmental Performance Track program. Members of the Performance Track work to achieve better environmental results by voluntarily exceeding regulatory requirements.

"We welcome Pfizer Cruce Davila into this innovative partnership program," said Alan J. Steinberg, EPA Regional Administrator, "Performance Track encourages top environmental performers to voluntarily commit to specific improvements and we hope to see ever expanding industry participation."

The facility has committed to compost biological sludge, significantly reduce its use of ozone depleting substances, reduce hazardous materials use and reduce its production of non-hazardous waste.

Members in the Performance Track program receive a range of incentives such as public recognition and low priority for routine EPA inspections. Facilities are also eligible for several kinds of administrative flexibility and streamlined administrative requirements to reduce costs and efficiency. In addition, members benefit from special services, including a learning network composed of top environmental performers.
