EPA awards $50,000 technical assistance grant to Wauconda community group

CONTACT: William Omohundro, (312) 353-8254 Susan Pastor, (312) 353-1325 For Immediate Release No. 05-OPA208 CHICAGO (Oct. 6, 2005) — U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 has awarded a $50,000 technical assistance grant to the Wauconda Superfund Community Advisory Group, a community organization in Wauconda, Ill. The grant will be used to hire a technical advisor for the Wauconda Sand and Gravel Superfund site. The advisor will interpret technical data for the organization and act as a liaison between the group and EPA. Since 1989, EPA Region 5 has awarded 22 Superfund technical assistance grants to community organizations, including two in Illinois.
