ELECTROPLATER PLEADS GUILTY IN SCHEME TO DECEIVE GOVERNMENT
On Sept. 30, Daniel Green, owner of LWG Finishing Inc. of Fairfield, Ohio, pleaded guilty in the Southern District of Ohio in Cincinnati, to filing false environmental reports in violation of the Clean Water Act (CWA) and to obstruction of justice. Green also pleaded guilty on behalf of LWG to one count of filing a false report under the CWA. Green admitted that he failed to conduct required self-sampling of wastewater discharged from LWG’s facility into public sewers in 1994. Green also admitted that he changed laboratory test reports to falsify results of analyses for wastewater pH to hide violations of discharge standards by LWG in June 1995 and May 1996. Green faces up to 12 years in jail and a $500,000 fine. LWG could be fined up to $500,000. The case was investigated by EPA’s Criminal Investigation Division.
