Kent, Conn. Treatment Plant Operator Recognized for Outstanding Service

(Boston, Mass., Jan. 28, 2009) – Arthur Seabury of the Kent, Conn. Water Pollution Control Authority was recently honored with the "2008 Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Award" by EPA.

EPA’s New England office formally acknowledged Mr. Seabury’s contributions during the annual New England Water Environment Association Conference at the Boston Copley Marriott Hotel on January 28th. Mr. Seabury’s nomination was highly recommended by the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, as well as other highly regarded individuals in the profession.

The EPA award program recognizes municipal personnel in the wastewater field who have provided invaluable public service operating wastewater treatment facilities throughout New England. Mr. Seabury has been the Chief Operator at the Kent Wastewater Treatment Plant since the early 1970s and has been a dedicated and unsung professional from the very beginning to protect water quality and public health of Connecticut’s citizens.

“The professionals providing operator training to wastewater treatment plants play a crucial role in ensuring that our lakes and rivers are protected from unnecessary pollution,” said Ira W. Leighton, acting regional administrator for EPA's New England Office. "I am proud to acknowledge Mr. Seabury’s outstanding and unwavering efforts to help keep Connecticut’s waterways clean for so many years.
