FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Kansas City, Kan., April 1, 2008) - College graduates, as well as college seniors and graduate students who will earn their degrees by December 2008, are invited to learn more about employment and internship opportunities with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency by attending an upcoming Career Fair sponsored by EPA Region 7.

The Career Fair will be from 1 to 6 p.m. on April 14 at the EPA Region 7 Office, 901 N. 5th Street, Kansas City, Kan. Free parking will be available on a surface lot at the corner of 4th Street and Minnesota Avenue, adjacent to the location.

Attendees can find out more about EPA career opportunities through one-on-one conversations with Agency managers and staff. Information about the Agency's mission and functions, federal employee benefits, and EPA hiring programs will also be offered, according to Naima Halim-Chestnut, Equal Employment Opportunity Officer of EPA Region 7.

Interested applicants must bring a current resume, as well as all undergraduate and (if applicable) graduate transcripts, photo identification, and a completed Applicant Employment Interest Form, the latter of which is available from the Region 7 website, www.epa.gov/region7/employment

Applicants who are military veterans should also bring copies of their DD Form 214.

Under federal hiring regulations, only qualified U.S. citizens or nationals may receive appointments to Agency positions. Because the positions are considered "non-competitive appointments," relatives of current EPA Region 7 employees are not eligible for hiring consideration.

EPA is a federal agency whose mission is to protect human health and the environment. Nationwide, EPA employs about 17,000 people, including on-scene coordinators, environmental protection specialists, engineers, scientists, policy analysts, and public affairs, financial, and information management specialists.

For more information about the April 14 Region 7 Career Fair, or to request reasonable accommodations, contact Naima Halim-Chestnut, 913-551-7168, [email protected], or Colleen Wilson, 913-551-7272, [email protected].
