FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Kansas City, Kan., May 9, 2007) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 7, will hold two one-day Environmental Justice (EJ) Small Grants workshops in June to help organizations apply for EPA grants. The workshops will be held on the following dates:

    June 5, 2007
    Jefferson City, Mo.
    Lincoln University
    Teleconference Center
    712 Lee Street

    June 12, 2007
    Honey Creek, Iowa
    Hitchcock Nature Center
    27792 Ski Hill Loop

Each workshop will cover criteria for grant applications, preparation of the grant application, the review and selection process, and the award notification process. There will also be an overview for new grant recipients on responsibilities and successful project management. The information shared at the workshops is broad and will help in grant application preparation well beyond EJ grants.

The workshops are free and open to the public. Seating is limited. Registration is required and can be completed by contacting Kimberly Jones at 913-551-7280, or on the EPA Region 7 Grants Workshop Web site.

Environmental Justice is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies.
