02/27/2004 - EPA is providing the final version of its MOBILE6.2 computer model, which predicts air pollution emissions from cars, trucks and motorcycles. The new model uses the most up-to-date science, information and tools available to determine the levels of air toxics, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, particulate matter and oxides of nitrogen emitted by highway vehicles. The model improves on a previously available draft model by better accounting for the effect of future emissions standards. In some cases, states will now be required to use MOBILE6.2 to determine air quality inventories and budgets for state implementation plans and transportation conformity determinations.
