ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE ON U.S.-MEXICO BORDER
TO BE ASSESSED IN THREE-DAY ROUNDTABLE
TO BE ASSESSED IN THREE-DAY ROUNDTABLE
On Aug. 19-21, U.S. and Mexican citizens, officials, constituent groups and stakeholders will participate in National City, Calif., in a roundtable concerning environmental justice on the
U.S.-Mexico border. The goal is to develop recommendations to address environmental justice issues in the border region which will be submitted to EPA. Sessions will focus on the link between the environment and health, trade and indigenous people as well as labor and immigration issues. EPA and the National Environmental Justice Advisory Council (NEJAC) International Subcommittee are co-sponsoring the roundtable. NEJAC is composed of citizens who advise the EPA Administrator on environmental justice matters. The roundtable will include presentations, panel discussions and opportunities for public comment.
