Browner to Detail Impact of Initiatives on Maryland Communities
U.S. EPA Administrator Carol M. Browner will join Maryland Governor Parris Glendening on Friday, Jan. 22, at 12:15 p.m. in Baltimore, Md., to discuss the impact of new environmental initiatives in President Clinton’s 1999 State of the Union Address on residents of Maryland and other communities across the nation. Administrator Browner and Governor Glendening will tour The American Can Company which is a symbol of government, businesses, and communities working together to redevelop and reuse abandoned industrial facilities, revitalize communities and protect green areas outside cities.
Administrator Browner will address Clinton Administration efforts to build livable communities for the 21st Century, including the Better America Bonds initiative which will provide tax credits to help communities preserve and enhance green spaces, protect water quality, and clean up brownfields -- this nation’s abandoned industrial properties. Administrator Browner will also discuss how the Better America Bonds program will advance Maryland’s successful efforts to revitalize communities and protect the environment.
