BROWNER TO REPORT ON THREE YEARS OF PROGRESS IN REINVENTING NATION’S ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATORY SYSTEM

EPA Administrator Carol M. Browner will brief reporters on Monday, March 30, on a broad-based report that tracks three years of progress by the Clinton Administration in reinventing the nation’s environmental regulatory system. EPA reinvention efforts are part of Vice President Gore’s challenge to federal agencies to work better and more cost-effectively for citizens, communities and businesses. Initiatives in the report that demonstrate this progress include dramatic expansion of public access to EPA data new approaches to regulation that include working with entire industrial sectors to obtain real pollution reductions and significant cuts in paperwork and costs.
