VERMONT STUDENTS RECEIVE ENVIRONMENTAL AWARDS

BOSTON -- EPA-New England Asssistant Regional Administrator Patricia Meaney joined Burlington Channel 3 Meteorologist Sharon Meyer in recognizing Vermont's winners of the 25th Annual Poem and Poster Contest during a ceremony today in Montpelier.

Thousands of New England school children participated in this program that fosters greater awareness and concern about the environment. Teachers set aside time for students in grades kindergarten through six to discuss environmental issues, and then prepare a poem or poster reflecting that theme.
