U.S. EPA TO HOLD TWO PUBLIC MEETINGS ON PUNA EMERGENCY PLANS

(San Francisco) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S.EPA) will hold two public meetings to share information and solicit comments about Puna Geothermal Venture's emergency response plan and Hawaii County's emergency operations plan as it applies to geothermal incidents.
The first meeting will be held Wednesday, August 7, 1996, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pahoa Community Center, Kauhale St., Pahoa. The second meeting will be held on Thursday, August 8, 1996, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the University of Hawaii, Hilo Campus Center, 200 W. Kawili St., Hilo.
The meetings, which are being held in response to public concerns, have similar formats so interested residents can attend either session. The meetings are being held in tandem with the agency's review of the emergency plans.
