(Dallas, Texas – September 30, 2008) Charles N. Jones of Conway, Arkansas, recently received a Greater Research Opportunities (GRO) fellowship from the Environmental Protection Agency. Mr. Jones attends the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville, where he is pursuing his bachelor’s degree.
EPA's Office of Research and Development supports several fellowship programs in an effort to address our country's most important environmental workforce needs. The GRO fellowship program helps build environmental studies programs at universities with limited funding for research and development, while the Science to Achieve Results (STAR) graduate fellowship program supports some of the nation's most promising masters and doctoral candidates. Undergraduate fellows can receive up to $17,000 per year of academic support and up to $7,500 of summer internship support. Masters and doctoral fellows can receive up to $37,000 per year to help complete master’s and doctorate degrees.
EPA is now accepting applications from students for GRO undergraduate fellowships. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or be lawfully admitted to the U.S. for permanent residence.
