PA FY'96 ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION GRANT AWARDS

FY'96 ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION GRANT AWARDS

EPA today announced a total of $2,128,000 in environmental education grants to state, local and tribal governments, schools, universities and not-for-profit organizations. Environmental education projects were selected to provide training and delivery systems for basic factual information about environmental protection, including cleaner air, land and water, and to improve teaching skills in this subject area. The Environmental Education Grants Program was established under Section 6 of the National Environmental Education Act of 1990. Grant applications were screened by EPA officials and external peer reviewers. EPA headquarters in Washington, D.C., awarded nine winners a total of $628,000 and EPA's regional offices awarded the remaining 204 grants.
