The Northwest office of the Environmental Protection Agency is hosting two workshops next week to help educate owners and operators of vehicle repair shops identify and correct environmental problems.

The EPA workshops will provide owners and operators information about tools available that can help them come into compliance with environmental laws while improving their financial bottom lines. EPA will be trumpeting a new program that helps small business identify their environmental problems and correct them without being fined.

The schedule for the workshops is:

2250 SE College Loop
Manufacturing & Applied Tech Ctr
Room 116
Thursday January 17

Central Oregon CC - Bend Campus
2600 NW College Way
Grandview Building
North Sisters Room
The State of Oregon and the EPA have identified vehicle repair shps as potential sources of contamination of underground water sources due to their historic reliance on drains that send oil, cleansers, antifreeze and other toxic materials into groundwater supplies. Many communities, including those in the central Oregon area, rely on groundwater for their drinking water supplies.
