MEDIA ADVISORY
To kick off Earth Week, U.S. EPA Administrator Carol M. Browner will help restore the Anacostia River at an event sponsored by American Forests at Kenilworth Park in Washington, D.C. at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 20. Browner will join federal and local officials and hundreds of school children and volunteers in creating a forest buffer along the Anacostia to stop pollution from entering the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Browner’s actions support the goals of President Clinton’s Clean Water Action Plan by addressing the greatest threat to the nation’s rivers, lakes, and coastal areas today—urban and rural polluted runoff.

Directions to Kenilworth Park: From Rt. 295 (Anacostia Freeway), take the Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue exit. Continue west, following the signs to Kenilworth Park (not Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens). Take Deane Avenue to Kenilworth Park. There is a large parking lot near the Anacostia River.
