(CHICAGO - April 11, 2006) A scheduled project to clean up contaminated soil in suburban Riverside, Ohio, near Dayton, will be the topic of a public meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, April 26, 6 to 8 p.m., at Mad River School, 801 Old Harshman Road., Riverside.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 plans to dig up and dispose of 3,000 cubic yards of contaminated soil from a property now being used for truck parking. The lot is on Planters Avenue between Springfield Street and Byesville Boulevard.

Along with the soil cleanup, vapor-abatement systems that remove potential exposure to volatile organic compound fumes will be installed at nine homes in the area near the contaminated soil site. Those residents have been contacted.

Questions about the project or requests for special accommodations at the meeting may be directed to EPA community involvement coordinator Rafael Gonzalez, (800) 621-8431, Ext. 60269, or [email protected].
