U.S. EPA TO HOLD WORKSHOPS ON ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE GRANTS

      (San Francisco) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) will hold workshops in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Oakland in early February for individuals and representatives of community organizations who have questions on the Environmental Justice Community Grants Program.  

     The workshops will help those who are interested in applying for up to $20,000 in  U.S. EPA grant funds for projects that address environmental justice issues. Applications for these funds must be postmarked no later than Friday, March 7, and mailed to: U.S. EPA; Environmental Justice Coordinator (CMD-6); 75 Hawthorne Street; San Francisco, CA.  94105. The workshops will also provide information on other U.S. EPA grant programs.

     The U.S. EPA defines environmental justice as the fair treatment of people of all races, cultures, and income with respect to the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. The environmental justice program also seeks to ensure that all public and private entities and individuals act responsibly to ensure environmental protection to all communities.
