Today, Gov. Rick Perry and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) announced a new, near-real time pilot water monitoring system that will automatically test the water at four sites in the Leon/Bosque watershed to improve water quality.
"With this new system, Texas continues to build a state of the art environmental monitoring network, an essential component of any environmental management system. I applaud Texas's commitment and leadership to sound science, a goal also promoted by World Water Monitoring Month," EPA Regional Administrator Richard E. Greene said.
EPA has invested more than $10 million to help TCEQ address water quality concerns in the North Bosque watershed. More information about World Water Monitoring Month is available at https://www.epa.gov/owow/monitoring/volunteer/monitoringmonth.html.
