Chapel Hill, N.C., Student Wins 2004 Earth Day Poster Contest

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced today that a 6th grader from Chapel Hill, North Carolina will be recognized as the winner of the agency's 2004 Earth Day poster contest in the K-6 category. The contest sponsored by EPA's Office of Solid Waste (OSW) to promote resource conservation, required students to "Paint a Path to a World with Less Waste." The artwork will become EPA's 2004 Earth Day poster. Several thousand copies will be distributed nationally. EPA's Earth Day poster contest was held last fall, and conducted at schools nationwide. Winners were selected from more than 14,000 entries. In addition to the winners, 11 students received Honorable Mention in both grade categories. All the winning entries will be available on the Internet at: https://www.epa.gov/epaoswer/osw/specials/artcontest/index.htm in April, as well as published on CD.
