(Dallas, Texas - September 12, 2008) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has released four public service announcements (PSAs) to help the area’s Vietnamese-speaking community prepare for the effects of Hurricane Ike.

The PSAs cover several situations that often occur after a severe weather event. They include: keeping drinking water safe; issues with private wells; using generators safely; and using caution when returning to a storm-damaged home. These announcements, available in English and Spanish as well, are part of EPA’s efforts to help communities prepare and recover when homes and lives are affected by natural disasters.

The public is reminded to closely follow local instructions guiding evacuations.
