EPA and Partners Advance Environmental Education for Urban and Disadvantaged Youth

(06/11/03) U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Christie Whitman will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for joint environmental education and interpretation efforts to meet the needs of urban and disadvantaged youth. This MOU includes participation in the Wonderful World Outdoor program, a public/private partnership program that gives urban children the opportunity to go camping, canoe on rivers, and learn about the environment all in their own neighborhood parks. In signing the MOU, EPA joins in important environmental education work with Walt Disney Company, the American Recreation Coalition, the USDA Forest Service, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau of Reclamation, the National Park Service, and the Fish and Wildlife Service.
