Why: To share information on environmental
issues related to the site. The
public is invited to attend.
The Santa Susana Field Laboratory workgroup consists of four public representatives and federal and state regulatory agencies, including the U.S. EPA, U.S. Department of Energy, the California Department of Toxic Substances Control, the California Department of Health Services, and the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend all workgroup meetings.
The Santa Susana Field Laboratory, established in 1946, covers nearly 2,700 acres in eastern Ventura County. The site has been used for rocket engine tests, nuclear energy research and nuclear reactor development. Nuclear work ceased in 1988.
