EPA schedules information sessions on National Copper clean up plans

CHICAGO (July 18, 2006) - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and National Copper Products will hold two open-house-type meetings from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, at the Dowagiac City Hall, 214 S. Front St., Dowagiac, Mich.
The informal drop-in meetings will cover the schedule for cleaning up ground water contaminated with trichloroethylene (TCE) and other chemicals under the facility and west, north and northwest of the site.
Negotiations on a consent order between NCP and EPA began in 2004 and the order was signed June 2. Work at the site is under way.
