U.S. EPA announces funding available for environmental research projects

Contract funding available to small businesses
SAN FRANCISCO -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is inviting small businesses interested in obtaining research funding for environmental projects to submit applications by May 25, 2004.
Contracts of $70,000 are available for small business firms -- no more than 500 employees -- to research new technologies to address environmental problems in California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii and the Pacific Islands. The contract funding will be used to pay for costs associated with the preliminary stages and technical feasibility specific projects.
The EPA is soliciting research proposals specifically focused on the following topics:
* air pollution in the arid west
* drinking water in the arid west
* wastewater and solid waste issues in the arid west
* dairies
* storm water pollution
* green buildings
