The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has scheduled several meetings to help determine the effectiveness of recent efforts to provide environmental information to communities in the U.S./Mexico border area.
The Border XXI Environmental Information Resources Workgroup has developed a variety of programs to educate residents about environmental issues along the border and to provide technical information in an understandable and useful format. Programs include:
Border Ecoweb, an Internet listing of environmental information sources and
groups and individuals involved in environmental issues along the border.
Environmental Indicators Report measuring environmental conditions in the border
area.
Border XXI Internet Web site.
Aerial Photography Initiative.
Environmental Education Strategy which links efforts on both sides of the border in
assessing educational needs and developing programs to meet those needs.
The workgroup was created to provide the environmental information people need to make informed decisions about the health and safety of their families and their neighborhoods.
These meetings are designed to provide the workgroup feedback from the community to evaluate environmental information activities along the border. For more information on these meetings, please contact Allyson Siwik at EPA's El Paso Border Office at(915)533-7273 or 1-800-334-0741.
