(04/23/14) SAN FRANCISCO – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently recognized 23 graduates from RichmondBUILD for completing EPA Brownfield’s Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training (EWD/JT) program at an award ceremony at their training center in Richmond, Calif.
Funded in part by a $200,000 grant from the EPA Office of Brownfields and Land Revitalization’s Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training (EWD/JT) program, students at RichmondBUILD gained the training and expertise necessary to secure skilled jobs in environmental cleanup, construction, and utility professions.
Students are unemployed or underemployed residents of the surrounding community and include veterans and formerly incarcerated individuals. This is the first of four cohorts of RichmondBUILD students funded by this EPA grant. RichmondBUILD was one of the first job training programs to receive funding from EPA when the program was launched in 1998.
