EPA PROPOSES ADDING WEST HWY. 6 & HWY. 281 TO SUPERFUND PRIORITY LIST
EPA has taken the next step, in a series of actions, by proposing the West Highway 6 & Highway 281 site, Hastings, Neb., to the National Priorities List of hazardous waste sites. EPA has determined the site warrants further response actions.
The site is being proposed because hazardous substances have been released into the environment and have impacted some private and local business wells.
Sites on the list become eligible for extensive, long-term cleanup actions and related funding under the Superfund Program. EPA published the rule in the Federal Register Sept. 14, 2005. That action also prompts an EPA 60-day comment period, encouraging public response.
Information is available for public review on EPA's Web site at: www.epa.gov/superfund/sites/npl/newnpl.htm
