(Dallas, Texas – September 16, 2009) The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $82,420 to Oklahoma State University (OSU). OSU will use these funds to validate and evaluate an ecologically-based canola aphid management program that will significantly reduce insecticide use on canola crops in Oklahoma and other regions of the Southern Plains. Based on prior research and utilizing replicated trials, OSU will quantify how seed treatments, economic thresholds, and available foliar insecticides influence aphid management and environmental impacts.
