EPA Awards Nearly $100,000 to Migrant Health Promotion, Inc. to Prevent Blood-Lead Poisoning

(Dallas, Texas – Sep. 24, 2007) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently awarded $99,157 to Migrant Health Promotion, Inc. to study an area of suspected but undocumented elevated blood-lead levels. The goal of the project is to promote prevention of blood-lead poisoning in the colonia residences in the Rio Grande Valley border communities of Texas. Migrant Health seeks to educate nearly 3,000 individuals about lead poisoning sources and methods of prevention.
