EPA to Hold Availability Session Regarding American Creosote Works Site in Louisville, Miss.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will hold an availability session on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 regarding the American Creosote Works site in Louisville, Mississippi. EPA officials will provide information, answer questions and address citizen concerns about the EPA investigation underway at the site.
The availability sessions will be held from 10:00 a.m. to12:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Community Room, Louisville Housing Authority, 605-A West Main Street in Louisville. Persons interested in obtaining additional information are encouraged to contact Sherryl A. Carbonaro, EPA Community Involvement Coordinator, or Mike Arnett, EPA Remedial Project Manager, at (800) 564-7577. The American Creosote Works site is a former wood treating facility located on Highway 15 at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Baremore Street, within the city limits of Louisville. The site is approximately 120 acres in size and is located in an industrial, commercial and residential area. The facility began operation in 1912 and operated as a creosote wood treating facility under several owners until approximately 1997. |
