EPA Extends Public Comment Period for the Liberty Industrial Finishing Superfund Site in Farmingdale, New York

(#01105) NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has released a Proposed Plan to cleanup the Liberty Industrial Finishing Superfund site in Farmingdale, Long Island to address the contamination of site soils, ground water and Pond A of Massapequa Creek. Due to concerns raised over site redevelopment issues at the public meeting on August 9, 2001, EPA is extending the public comment period to Friday, September 21, 2001.
In addition, a Public Availability Session has been scheduled for Thursday, September 13, 2001 from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM at the Farrmingdale Public Library at 116 Merritt Road, Farmingdale, New York. Documents related to the site can be reviewed at the Farmingdale Library or; U.S. EPA Regional Office All written comments on the Proposed Plan may be sent to: Lorenzo Thantu, Project Manager
