EPA TO ANNOUNCE RECORD YEAR FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ENFORCEMENT

SAN FRANCISCO -- On Wednesday, January 19, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will announce a record-setting year of environmental enforcement actions nationwide, and highlight major cases in California, Arizona, Nevada, and Hawaii. EPA's enforcement work covered a broad range of cases, including vernal pool wetlands near Sacramento, MTBE in Santa Monica, tire fires in Arizona, a Northern California coastal oil spill, and sewage spills in Maui.
Top EPA officials will be available to meet reporters at the EPA regional office in San Francisco. Reporters wishing to participate from remote locations can call in and join a simultaneous conference call.
