Clean School Bus USA Summit -- The Bush Administration Makes Clean School Buses a Priority

(04/04/03) EPA Administrator Whitman will kick off a clean school bus summit Clean school Bus USA: Tomorrow’s buses for today’s children. The campaign seeks to reduce children’s exposure to diesel exhaust across the country by encouraging policies and practices to eliminate unnecessary school bus idling, installing emission control systems on newer buses and replacing older buses in fleets with newer ones. This goal will be achieved through partnerships with business, education, health and environmental leaders working together to help protect children nation wide, especially the 24 million who ride the bus to school each day.

WHAT: Deputy Administrator Linda Fisher will give opening remarks at 1:00 p.m. at the Clean School Bus USA Summit and Administrator Whitman will be hosting the evening summit reception at 5:30 p.m.
