PHILADELPHIA - The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency is organizing an Earth Day Extravaganza on April 22 for students at General Casmir Pulaski Middle School in Chester, Pa.
From the first bell at 8:20 a.m until noon there will be games, demonstrations, and a variety of interactive gadgets and gizmos for the student in the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. The environmental event will also provide information on energy conservation, wildlife protection, fire safety and health issues.
In addition to the EPA, participants will include PECO, the U.S. Department of Energy, the Chester Fire Department, the Pennsylvania Resources Council, the John Heinz Wildlife Preserve and the City of Chester Health Department.
The extravaganza tops off two days of environmental classroom workshops with EPA scientists teaching one science class each day. The extravaganza was conceived by Christopher Warner, an AmeriCorps*VISTA volunteer at EPA who is working in Chester this year.
The EPA has worked with Pulaski Middle School for four years, and last year officially adopted the school. The school is located at 2820 West Seventh Street.
