EPA invites comment on landfill for PCB waste

CHICAGO (April 6, 2006) - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 is seeking comment from the public on plans to dispose of PCB waste from the cleanup of contaminated sediment in Ohio's Ashtabula Harbor.
The landfill, to be constructed at the former RMI Sodium Plant, 600 State Road, will hold sediment from the Ashtabula cleanup project funded by the Great Lakes Legacy Act. De maximis inc., the company proposing to build the landfill, has applied for a permit from EPA under the federal Toxic Substances Control Act.
The permit application and EPA's draft approval are available for review at the Ashtabula County District Library, 335 W. 44th St., the Kent State Campus Library, 3431 W. 13th St. and online at: https://www.epa.gov/region5/sites/ashtabula/background.htm.
