$477,000 Grant to Joplin, Mo., for Water Infrastructure

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Kansas City, Kan., October 5, 2009) - EPA has awarded $477,000 to Joplin, Mo., for the construction of the Wildwood Ranch sewer system.
Wildwood Ranch is a proposed 2,075-acre development on the border of Jasper and Newton counties, both of which have approved the rezoning for this site. The grant will help fund the construction of a sewer system which will convey the wastewater to Joplin’s existing Shoal Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant.
EPA Region 7 Acting Regional Administrator William Rice said, "EPA is proud to award these water infrastructure funds which will help to protect public health and the water quality in the Joplin, Mo., area.”
