{Denver, Colo. - Aug. 11, 2006} Two federal officials will be available for interviews on Monday, August 14, as part of a listening session on cooperative conservation and environmental partnerships. The Environmental Protection Agency's Regional Administrator, Robert E. Roberts and the Department of Agriculture's Deputy Under Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment, Merlyn Carlson will be available in Helena's Public Health and Human Services Building at 12:30 p.m. A listening session open to the public will immediately follow the media availability.

The listening session is one of 24 scheduled throughout the nation hosted by the Secretaries of Interior, Commerce and Agriculture, the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Chairman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality on cooperative conservation and environmental partnerships. The sessions give citizens an opportunity to exchange ideas on incentives, partnership programs, and regulations that can improve results and promote cooperative conservation and environmental partnerships.

The meetings are the latest in a series of discussions the Bush Administration has hosted since the President's Conference on Cooperative Conservation in August 2005. The conference identified three broad approaches to improving conservation results: promoting cooperation within the federal government, promoting cooperation between the federal government and others, and eliminating barriers to cooperation in existing policy. The meetings will focus on issues, programs and policies mentioned frequently at the White House Conference on Cooperative Conservation.
