EPA KICKS OFF 25TH DRINKING WATER ANNIVERSARY
Next week, May 2-8, is National Drinking Water Week. EPA and its drinking water partners, including states and citizens groups, will kick off a series of events over the next few months to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Safe Drinking Water Act, first signed into law on December 19, l974. The Safe Drinking Water Act ensures that Americans receive the safest drinking water in the world. EPA is launching a special 25th Anniversary web site accessible through EPA’s drinking water web site at: https://www.epa.gov/safewater. By clicking on the 25th Anniversary icon, the web site provides information on upcoming celebrations around the country, information on the past, present and future of the program and a “futures forum” to encourage public discussion on maintaining and improving the quality of the nation’s drinking water. Additional information also is available from EPA’s drinking water hotline at 1-800-426-4791.
