CHARLOTTE BUSINESSMEN SENTENCED FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE VIOLATIONS
On July 11, in the Western District of North Carolina, Bernie Holloman received a 12-month prison sentence for violating the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act by conspiring to transport and store hazardous waste without a permit. Randy Graham, Holloman’s business partner, was sentenced last month in U.S. District Court to 15 months in prison and three years of supervised release. Both men worked for the Holloman Container Co. and collected 55-gallon drums containing highly flammable hazardous waste, which were then abandoned. This investigation was carried out by EPA’s Criminal Investigation Division, EPA’s National Enforcement Investigations Center, the FBI and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
