EPA Accepting Applications for District of Columbia Environmental Education Grants

(PHILADELPHIA Nov. 20, 2009) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s mid-Atlantic Regional Office is accepting applications from District of Columbia organizations seeking funding to help develop new or improve existing environmental education programs. EPA will take applications through Dec. 15, 2009.
EPA’s Environmental Education Grant Program allows the agency’s regional offices to award grants up to $50,000. Grants over $50,000 and up to $200,000 are awarded by EPA headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Organizations seeking funding should submit proposals to: EPA Region 3, Attn: Kathleen Kirkland (3PA00), Office of Public Affairs, 1650 Arch Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19103. Proposals must be postmarked by Dec. 15, 2009. Proposals postmarked after the due date will not be considered. Environmental Education grants provide funding to local education agencies, state education or environmental agencies, colleges or universities, not-for-profit organizations, or noncommercial educational broadcasting entities.
These projects should involve designing, demonstrating or developing education tools and materials. Projects should be environmental education activities that go beyond disseminating information.
