EPA Awards $50,000 to the City of McAllen to Update Sister-City Plan

(Dallas, Texas -- November 2, 2007) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $50,000 to the City of McAllen, Texas. The city’s fire department will use the funds to update its current sister-city plan with Reynosa to include a risk analysis and incorporate the cities of Edinburg, Hidalgo, Mission, Pharr and Weslaco in Hidalgo County in the United States and Rio Bravo in Mexico. In addition to updating their plan, the fire department will provide training to area first responders and conduct binational exercises to test the updated plan.
