(Kansas City, Kan., August 27, 2009) - EPA has awarded $485,000 to the Kansas City, Kan., Board of Public Utilities for improvements to existing drinking water distribution pipelines.

Approximately 11,500 feet of water mains will be replaced. The lines to be replaced are old and deteriorating, and have resulted in 136 leaks in the past 10 years.
