EPA Awards Over $600,000 to the State of Oklahoma

(Dallas, Texas – January 12, 2010) The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $676,907 to the State of Oklahoma’s Office of the Secretary of Environment. The state will use the funds for three projects. The first project consists of Phase II of an oxbow system assessment and protocol development in Oklahoma. Project two is the development of Floristic Quality Index approaches for wetlands plant communities in the state. The primary outcome of this project will be further development of the state’s wetland vegetation assessment tool. The third and final project will determine how reference wetland conditions vary throughout the state of Oklahoma based on ecoregions and will provide reference condition data.
