CHICAGO (Oct. 27, 2006) - Officials from U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 and Indiana Department of Environmental Management, along with U.S. Rep. Chris Chocola and Kokomo, Ind. Mayor Matt McKillip, will provide an update on new developments at the Continental Steel Superfund site, Monday, Oct. 30, 10 a.m.
Media are asked to gather at the Continental Steel main plant parking lot, on the north side of Markland Avenue between U.S. 31 and South Park Avenue.
In the event of poor weather, the briefing will be held at City Hall, 100 S. Union St.
To reach the site: From U.S. 31, turn west onto Markland Avenue and travel through the intersections of Home Avenue, Washington Street and Webster Street. Look for a CVS drug store on the right. Just beyond CVS, look for a series of large industrial buildings close to the road and a large unfenced parking lot. Turn right into the parking lot opposite the Gate 5 entrance across the road.
